Earth Shakers, Dream Makers

Apparently an earthquake hit Virginia today.  How did the world find out...facebook of course, its how we first find out about all our breaking news.  Its funny to look back and read all the posts from my friends...From a 'today is boring'  pre-quake posts to the canned posts copied from many others.  Alledgedly the earthquake was cause by the founding fathers all rolling over in their graves due to some political bs or another.  I find this one particularly amusing.  I have no idea but I'm guessing that probably not a lot of the founding fathers are buried in DC.  I'm sure they're scattered about.  anyhoo....it still amused me.

As if there wasn't enough happening along the east coast, what with Hurricane Irene rolling ashore...now they have to deal with the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse??  poor east coast!!

Thank GOD The CDC is always prepared and has instituted Zombie Preparedness 101 a few months back.

Forward Prolpulsion

2011: Summer of fun is coming to a close, M has started Kindergarten.  She is involved in Soccer and itching to start Daisy scouts.  Life is a changing.  I’m so thankful for all my wonderful friends who truly helped me make this a summer of fun.  I had a blast doing what  I  wanted to do, having fun even trying new things.   Kickball league, kayaking , multiple bike races.   I’m proud of myself for getting out there and being true to me.  I needed to remind myself that I need to come first.  I need to make myself happy before I worry about others.  The only person in this world you can make happy is yourself.  I’m mastering that.  Over this summer I’ve slowly lost a few people that I really thought would be lifelong great friends.  But, in the scheme of things custody rules apply to friends as much as anything.  So I’m learning to let go and move on.   Unfortunately, moving forward often means leaving others behind.  Bittersweet.  You can’t live in the past and you cannot hang on to people who won’t try for you.  While I want to hold on to friendships past, people who aren’t willing to make an effort will be left behind.  I’m grateful for the memories and the lessons learned.  The company, the fun times.  But, as we grow and change in our lives there are certain people who aren’t willing to do the same.  So as I move forward in this new chapter of my life, I will truly miss the people I am leaving behind.  But, I cannot wait to see what is yet to come.  Oh the places I’ll go and the people I’ll meet.  Another adventure is beginning.

Tomorrow M starts her first day of Kindergarten.  Wow.  It shouldn’t be hard to believe, her being 5 and all, yet I feel myself saying the cliché, “Can you believe it??”  I feel like I need this to be the end of an era.  The start of a new beginning.  I’ve spent the last 5 or so years trying to find myself trying to fit in and find my place in the world, I feel sometimes like I’ve just been lost in this world and forgotten who I am.  But I think the truth of that matter is, I’m not done becoming who I am.  We evolve, we change, we grow.  I’ve been so focused on everyone else and trying to fit in somewhere that I didn’t learn to be me.  This summer has been a summer of that, relearning to be myself whatever or whoever that will turn out to be.  I figure I’m always going to be changing and growing and learning new things, loving new things.

Back in the Saddle

Tonight was Mission: Blog Recon.  I’ve been spending a portion of the evening copy and pasting from my cobwebbed, neglected blog.  Shame on me.  I changed my email after I changed my name back to the ol’ maiden stand by and sadly have been forever locked out of my email.  Figures after almost 2 years of a neglected blog perhaps I should start over.  I feel so much better when I can bitch…err, uh, write about things.  Its been 2 years so much, and so little at the same time have happened.  Part of me wishes I had been documenting the whole time, but well, shit gets in the way.  So here’s to a fresh start.

I’m not even going to attempt to recap but basically M and I are both about two years older and she’s at least 2 years wiser.  Heh.  I’ve grown quite a bit, mostly over the last 3-4 months though.  I’ve discovered a lot about me that I didn’t know and why I do the things I do.  I’ve changed for hopefully for the better and have realized that my main mission in life now is to mold and grow a child that doesn’t make the same mistakes I made.  Sure all children will make mistakes but I want her to be able to feel comfortable with herself and know she has someone who cares and will listen and will help.  I want her to know without a doubt that she is loved.  I want her to be confident and go for whatever she wants.  To make a better child, I must be a better person.  Here’s to new beginnings.
